"2005 Camping Trips"


Jan - Feb................................................................. Valley
Members in the valley are/were: Bill & Carolyn Borrows, Dean & Emma Lou Clark,
Kenneth & Don Anna Reece, Ronnie & Sue Mooney and Bob & Sue Whitley.
Visiting the Thundering Sams were: Lloyd & Lottie Bowen, Lynda Boaen & Joe Wakefields
We all had a LOTS of fun. Eating out at numerous fine resturants and doing a lot of
shopping across the border at Progresso, Mexico.

March....15-18.................................. Lake Chicot County Park, Lake Village Arkansas
Seven rigs, the members were: Max & Christy Brown, Bill & Carolyn Burrow, Ben & Glenda Ewing, Ken & Pat Graves,
Ronnie & Sue Mooney, Kenneth & Don Anna Reece and Bob & Sue Whitley. The mornings and evenings were cool,
Rain one day but the scenery was great. several went to the casino's. Some of the ladies went shopping, some
played games. Found one great Cajun cooking resturant. Had pot-luck one evening.

April....11-13............................ Clear Springs Park, Wright-Patman Lake, Texarkana, TX.
Six rigs, the members were: Bill & Carolyn Burrows, Dean & Emma Lou Clark, Ronnie & Sue Mooney,
Kenneth & Don Anna Reece and Bob & Sue Whitley, one guest, Lynda Boaen & Joe Wakefield from
Calera, Oklahoma. The lake was awesome, and a great campout. The weather was GREAT, low to
mid 70's. Had a pot-luckdinner, built a big bond fire, roasted marshmellows. Some women still
found time to shop.

April....14-17.................................................. Spring Samboree at Texarkana, AR.
Five rigs, the members were: Bill & Carolyn Burrows, Dean & Emma Lou Clark, Ronnie & Sue Mooney,
and Bob & Sue Whitley, one guest, Lynda Boaen & Joe Wakefield from Calera, Oklahoma. Again, some
some of the women found time to SHOP... Resturants were great, as usual. The entertainment was very good.
There was about 350 rigs present, even with the high cost of gasoline/diesel. Lots of prizes, dozens of games.
The Seminars and comercial booths were very good.

May.....16-20 ............................................................. Old Post, Russellville, AR.
There were 7 members rigs present. They were: Dave & Jimmie Bariteau, Dean & Emma Lou Clark,
Ben & Glenda Ewing, Ken & Pat Graves, Ronnie & Sue Mooney, Kenneth & Don Anna Reece, and
Bob & Sue Whitley. Glen & June Cline, associate members came a little later. Old Post is right on
the river. We had a ring side seat to watch the barges coming and going. We found a nice resturant
that served breakfast morning, noon and night. The food was great and the prices were very reasonable.
Some of the women shopped daily, some played games. The Ewings did a great Pancake and coffee
breakfast. The ladies (Camp Host), Emma Lou Clark and Sue Whitley, had an outstanding pot luck feast
two evenings. More food, Ice Cream & Cake than we could eat.

June....13-17.................................................. JFK CEO, Greers Ferry Lake
There was 4 members rigs present & 3 Excused. They were: Dean & Emma Lou Clark, Ben & Glenda Ewing,
Ken & Pat Graves and Sue & Ronnie Mooney. Guest: Pat & Ken Graves Grand children, Dylan and Victoria
Graves. Sam & Carol Gipson, Kenneth & Don Anna Reece excused due to Illness, Bob & Sue Whitley
excused, as they are Camp Hosting Lake Catherine.
We ate at a really nice family resturant, a few times. The food was very good and very reasonable. as
usual the Ewing's put up a fine pancake breakfast. The ladies (Camp Host), Sue Mooney & Pat Graves
rounded up the fixings for a hamburger cook out, Chef Ken Graves grilled the Burgers. Sue Mooney made
Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream. Had several varities of Cakes, Chips & Dip. Had a Watermellon & Cantalope lunch.

July....11-15................. Bullshoals State Park, AR.
There was 6 members rigs present & 1 Excused: They were Bill & Carolyn Burrow, Dean & Emma Lou Clark,
Ben & Glenda Ewing, Ronnie & Sue Mooney, Kenneth & Don Anna Reece, Bob & Sue Whitley.
Pat & Ken Graves were excused due to Pats serious surgery and Illness.
The gathering was great. Great company, good weather and excellent food at several restaurants.
Ben Ewing did his usual great Wednesday morning pancake breakfast. The women, as usual put on a
great pot luck feed Wednesday evening. Bob & Louise Folsom of Bryant, prospective members, were there
and introduced to everyone. Bob, Louise, we were glad you came..

August....14-21................. Gatlinburg, TN.
There was 6 members rigs present, they were: Dave & Jimmie Bariteau, Bill & Carolyn Borrow, Dean & Emma Lou Clark,
Ronnie & Sue Mooney, Kenneth & Don Anna Reece and Bob & Sue Whitley, with two Guest, Bob & Edna Taylor of Benton,
Joe Wakefield & Lynda Boaen of Calera, Oklahoma. Sunday Morning, August 14 we headed for the Smokies. We Spent
Sunday evening in Nashville, Tennessee. Monday we made it to Sevierville, Tennessee where we spent the next 7 days
going to shows and eating great food at several restaurants. We saw the Chinese Acrobatic Act, the Blackwood Family,
Dixie Stampede and The Smith Family, who put on a Tremendous show, of which very own Bob Whitley Tied for 1st place
in the Hula Hoop Contest. Of course the women hit every Flea Market, Dollar Store, Wal-Mart, Antique and souvenir store
in Sevierville, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and most other surrounding areas, while some of the men checked out the Muscle
Car Show, The Tool place, The Knife, Gun, and other fine things and places for the guys.

Friday morning we received some very bad news.... One of our members, Pat Graves passed away.

September...12-14... Petit Jean State Park, Morrilton, AR.
The Thundering Sams campout at Petit Jean State Park was a very nice, there was 8 members rigs present, they were:
Bill & Carolyn Borrows, Dave & Jimmie Bariteau, Dean & Emma Lou Clark, Ben & Glenda Ewing, Ronnie & Sue Mooney,
Kenneth & Don Anna Reece and Bob & Sue Whitley and New Members Bob & Louise Folsom. As Usual The Thundering
Sams had their meeting Wednesday Morning IN THE RAIN. We ate at several restaurant in Morrilton and Russellville.

October...12-16................ Fall Samboree at Ft. Smith, AR.
Only Three rigs made this one. They were: Ronnie & Sue Mooney, Bob & Sue Whitley and guest Lynda Boaen & Joe Wakefield
from Calera, Oklahoma. Gas Prices, illness, other Schedules to meet took it's tole on The Thundering Sams as well.
The two Sue's and Lynda were still able to do some serious shopping! We ate at several great Resturants, as usual. The
entertainment was very good. There was only 251 rigs present, due to the HIGH cost gasoline/diesel. Lots of prizes were
awarded, dozens of games were played and the Seminars and comercial booths were very good.

October...29............................................... Halloween Party
The Haloween Party was held at Max & Christie Brown's home. There was 7 member rigs present, They were:
Max & Christie Brown, Bill & Carolyn Burrow, Ben & Glenda Ewing, AC & Francis Ledbetter, Ronnie & Sue Mooney,
Kenneth & Don Anna Reece, Bob & Sue Whitley. We had a Big Weenie Roast (men cooked) and all sorts of
condiments & party favors. We played a 'New Game' where you throw a Hula Hoop 15 feet to ring a Pumkin'. The
bottom of the third, Max Brown made a ringer to make it 1 to 0, Top of the ninth Sue Mooney made a ringer...
Tight game... Till the bottom of the 14th... Our Max Brown did it again... Made a second ringer and the men WON....

November....14 - 19........... Maumelle State Park, Little Rock, AR.
Nine (9) members rigs present. They were: Max & Christie, Brown, Dave & Jimmie Bariteau, Dean & Emma Lou Clark,
Ben & Glenda Ewing, Bobby & Louise Flosom, Ken Graves, Ronnie & Sue Mooney, Kenneth & Don Anna Reece and
Bob & Sue Whitley. We had one Guest: Mac & Judy McDowell, Area Six Directors.
Our Wednesday morning Pancake breakfast (By Ben & Glenda Ewing) was changed to a Chili Pot Luck Wednesday
evening because the temp was 29 degrees. None of our rigs had any pipes freeze, but a few had their water hoses
freeze. The women brought all sort of 'Goodies'. We also celebrated Ben Ewing and Jimmie Bariteau's Birthday,
their 39th I think. We chose out 2006 Camping Schedule. I think It's going to be a good Year.. As soon as we finalize
it, I will post it here..

December.......13......... Christmas Party.
The Christmas party was held at Sue & Ronnie Mooney's New Home. There was 11 member rigs present. They were:
Dave & Jimmie Bariteau, Max & Christie Brown, Bill & Carolyn Borrow, Dean & Emma Lo

At all meetings: A Wednesday morning Breakfast will be started with a Prayer!
Immediately after the Breakfast, The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, will start the Chapter meeting.
A Prayer and a Pot Luck dinner that evening, will be hosted by the wives.
